FAQ

Scheduling & Account
-
How will I know when you’re coming?
You can request a text message notification/reminder the day before your service and we will add that to your account—especially if you have pets on site or any locked gates. If you need to move an appointment, call our office and we’ll work it out.
-
What are your office hours, and how do I reach you?
Call us at 931-728-4290 or reach us through the contact form on this site. Our office is at 3731 New Tullahoma Hwy in Manchester, and our technicians run routes out of there across the whole service area.
-
Can I manage my account online?
Yes. The customer portal on this site lets you view your account, see your service history, and make a payment any time.
-
What products do you use? Can I see the labels?
Every product label and safety data sheet we use is linked right on our website. If you’ve got a question about something we applied at your home, call us and we’ll pull it up and walk you through it.
-
How do I cancel?
Call the office. We’ll go over where you stand in your agreement and take care of it. If something went wrong, we’d rather hear it and get a chance to fix it — but either way, we’ll treat you right on the way out.

About Sherrill Pest Control
-
Do you service businesses?
We do some light commercial work. Give us a call and tell us about your building — we’ll be straight with you about whether we’re the right fit.
-
What makes you different from the big national companies?
We live here. Our team members stay for years, not months. We’re QualityPro Certified, we hold a 4.9-star rating across more than 1,400 Google reviews, and PCT Magazine named us the #1 small-sized Best Place to Work in 2025 — which tells you something about the people who show up at your door. When you call, you get somebody in Middle Tennessee who can pull up your account.
-
How long have you been in business?
Since 1975 —50+ years, over half a century. Vernon "Jr." Sherrill started the company in Manchester, his son Kevin runs operations today, and the fourth generation is in the business now. Same family, same town, same standard.
-
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re licensed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture under Charter #231, fully insured, and members of the National Pest Management Association and the Tennessee Pest Control Association.
-
What does "QualityPro Certified" mean?
QualityPro is the voluntary certification program of the National Pest Management Association — it sets standards for training, business practices, consumer protection, and how a company treats its people. About 3% of pest control companies in the country hold it. We’re one of them.
-
Will I have the same technician every time?
We route by area, so in most cases you’ll see the same technician on your property visit after visit. However, as we grow our customer base, we do make route changes from time to time. One thing is for certain though—any team member of ours that comes to your property should provide a top-notch experience, every time. That’s the Sherrill Way.
-
Are your technicians trained and background-checked?
Yes. Every technician is certified through the state, trained on our standards, drug-screened, and background-checked before they can be a part of our team. They’re in uniform and driving a marked Sherrill vehicle — you’ll always know who’s at your house.

Seasonal & Specialty Services
-
How does mosquito service work?
We treat monthly from April through October, when mosquitoes are active around here, and you’re only billed during the months we’re out treating. Understand it’s a reduction service — we knock the population way down so you can use your yard again, but nobody can promise to clear every mosquito off an open property.
-
What are "fall invaders"?
Asian lady beetles, brown marmorated stink bugs, and cluster flies — the ones that show up on your siding in the fall looking for a warm place to spend the winter. We treat the exterior three times across September, October, and November to cut down how many make it inside. Timing is everything with these; once they’re inside, there’s not much that can be done about them other than vacuuming them up.
-
Do you treat for brown recluse?
We do, and it’s a dedicated quarterly program with two levels — a standard version that includes fogging of the crawlspace and/or attic, and a lower-level version that doesn’t. Brown recluse control depends on staying on a consistent schedule; skipping visits is what lets a population rebuild. We’ll recommend the right level when we come out and look.
-
Can you help with mice and rats?
Yes — rodent work is included in our Preventative Pest Control and Bundle programs. Rodents pick up in the fall when it turns cold and they start looking for a way in. We find how they’re getting in, deal with what’s already there, and walk you through the entry points that need sealing up by you or a contractor.
-
What about carpenter bees?
We treat once a year in the spring — between March and May, and the earlier the better. It’s a reduction service, so seeing bees around the structure after treatment is normal. If you’re not seeing any change at all, call us. We aren’t able to repair or replace wood that carpenter bees have damaged, so the sooner you treat, the better off you are.
-
Do you treat for roaches?
We do — a persistent roach problem is its own monthly service, not something our Preventative Pest Control program will solve on its own. Call the office and tell us what you’re seeing and we’ll tell you what it’ll take.
-
Do you handle fleas, ticks, and wasps?
Yes to all three. Fleas and ticks usually take a coordinated plan between us and your vet to break the cycle. Wasp and hornet nests we’ll knock out for you — call us instead of handling it on your own with a can of over-the-counter spray.

Termites & Sentricon
-
How do I know if I have termites?
The signs worth watching for are mud tubes running up your foundation, swarmers or discarded wings around windows in the spring, wood that sounds hollow when you tap it, and paint that looks bubbled or uneven. Most of the time termites work out of sight, so if you’re seeing any of that, give us a call and we’ll come look at no charge.
-
What is the Sentricon system, and how is it different from a liquid treatment?
Sentricon uses bait stations placed in the ground around your home. Termites feed on the bait and carry it back, which works on the colony itself rather than putting a chemical barrier in the soil. It also means no trenching around your foundation and no drilling through your slab.
-
How long does it take to work?
Colony elimination takes time — anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on the colony. That’s the honest answer. It works on the termites’ schedule, not ours. If you’ve got active termites, we’ll walk you through what to expect at the start.
-
Will you have to dig up my yard or drill through my floors?
No. Stations go in the ground around the outside of your home. No trenching around the foundation, and no drilling through the slab.
-
Is there a warranty?
Qualified homes carry a repair warranty, and we go through the terms with you in detail before you sign. Certain conditions on a property aren’t covered — things like earth-to-wood contact, moisture problems, and areas we can’t get to. All the disqualifiers will be listed on your paperwork, so you know exactly where you stand.
-
Do I still need an inspection every year?
Yes. An annual inspection is how we keep an eye on the stations, catch new activity early, and keep your warranty in force. It’s part of the program, not an add-on.
-
What happens if I sell my house?
Let us know within 30 days and we’ll take care of the paperwork — the warranty can transfer to the new owner. Same goes if you add on, build a deck, or change the structure: tell us within 30 days so we can keep everything properly protected.
-
I’m building a new home. Should I think about termite protection now?
Middle Tennessee sits in heavy termite country, and protecting a house is a good idea from the start. Talk to us if you’re building a home and we’ll walk you through your options.
We also offer Sentricon as an option for pretreatments. If you are a contractor or builder, call our office today.

Our Programs — Pest & Bundle
-
What is the Sherrill Pest Complete Bundle?
It’s our most popular program — Preventative Pest Control and our Sentricon termite protection together, plus coverage for a few extras most programs leave out: fire ants, rats, scorpions, and boxelders. Qualified homes also carry a repair warranty on the termite side.
-
How often will you come out?
You get year-round protection. We’re out on a set schedule through the year treating the exterior, and we come back between visits any time a covered pest is a problem. It’s not a one-and-done — it’s keeping pressure off your home all year.
-
What pests are covered?
Our Preventative Pest Control program covers ants, crickets, spiders other than brown recluse, fleas inside the home, wasps, earwigs, mice, silverfish, clover mites, pillbugs, sowbugs, millipedes, centipedes, springtails, pantry pests, and beetles (excludes wood-infesting beetles). We also knock down spider webs while we’re there.
A few pests are handled under their own programs instead — termites, mosquitoes, brown recluse, carpenter bees, and lady beetles. We’ll tell you plainly which is which before you sign.
-
What if I still see bugs between visits?
Call our office. If it’s a covered pest on a program that carries our guarantee, we send a technician back out — no extra charge. Using that callback doesn’t count against you. We’d rather come back out than have you living with it.
-
Do you treat inside my house?
Our program is built around the outside, because that’s where pests come from — stopping them at the perimeter beats chasing them around your kitchen. If you’ve got activity inside, we’ll treat inside too, if deemed necessary by your technician. Just let us know when you call what you’re seeing, and we will take appropriate measures to get your pests taken care of.
-
What about my kids and pets?
Every product is applied according to its label, and our technicians are trained on where and how much. Our whole approach is protecting people from pests — and from over-application and misuse of pesticides.
If we need to treat inside, we’ll tell you how long to stay out of the treated area before we start. Every product label and safety data sheet we use is linked right on this site.
-
Do I need to do anything before you come?
For our regular exterior service, just unlock the gate and ensure your pets are put up out of the treatment area(s). For mosquito, carpenter bee, and fall invader treatments, a little prep is needed:
- Pick up pet toys
- Move food and water bowls inside
- Close your windows
- Cover ponds and open water
- Take items off exterior walls (fall invader & carpenter bee only)
- Keep people and pets out of the treatment area while we work
-
Will I see more bugs right after you treat?
Sometimes, and it’s normal. Treatment flushes pests out of hiding before it takes hold, so a little more activity for a week or two isn’t a bad sign. If it hasn’t settled down after that, call us and we’ll come back out.
-
Do you do one-time treatments?
We’d rather put you on year-round protection, and here’s why: a one-time service treats what’s there that day and carries no warranty. The pests around Middle Tennessee don’t take a year off, so one visit usually means another call in a few months. Tell us what you’re dealing with and we’ll be straight with you about what it’ll actually take.
-
What happens if it rains?
If the weather won’t let us do the job right, we’d rather reschedule than rush it. Our routing team watches the forecast the day before, and if we need to move your service, we will reach out to reschedule

Pricing & Billing
-
How much does pest control cost?
Your investment depends on the size of your home, what you’re dealing with, and which program fits. We’ll usually give you the number on the phone, in plain terms, before you commit to anything.
We price our work so we can do it right and stand behind it — a licensed technician who knows your property, the right product applied the right way, and a company that comes back between visits when you need us.
-
Why am I billed monthly if you don’t come out every month?
You’re not paying per visit — you’re paying for year-round protection. Monthly billing just spreads that out evenly so nothing lands on you all at once. And your coverage doesn’t pause between visits: if a covered pest shows up any time between services, you call the office and we come back out (free of charge on most programs).
-
What payment methods do you take?
We accept all major credit/debit cards and bank drafts, and you can set up autopay so you never have to think about it. You can also view your account and make a payment any time through the customer portal on this site.
-
Do you have any specials?
Yes — we keep current offers on our Special Offers page.
-
Is there a cancellation fee?
Our one-year programs carry an early termination fee if you cancel inside the first year. After the first year, you can cancel by calling the office, with no cancellation fee after that point. Mosquito is seasonal and doesn’t carry that fee.
-
Will my investment ever go up?
Over time, yes — costs go up for everybody. When we adjust, it’s so we can keep doing the work the way we do it: licensed technicians who stay with us for years, ongoing training, and the right product applied the right way. Cutting corners on any of that would show up at your house.

Getting Started
-
How do I get started?
Call us at 931-728-4290 or fill out the request form on this site. We’ll ask a few questions about your home and what you’re seeing, and quote you right over the phone when we can. From there we send your agreement over to sign. Once it’s signed and we have a payment method on file, we get your first service on the schedule.
-
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Estimates are free every time. Most pest control & termite estimates we can give you on the phone in a few minutes. For active termites, larger properties, or anything unusual, we’ll come out in person first (still no charge & no obligation to go with service).
-
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Manchester and serve Coffee County and the counties around it — McMinnville, Shelbyville, Winchester, Tullahoma, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Woodbury, Monteagle, Lynchburg, Decherd, and the towns in between. If you’re not sure whether we come your way, call and ask. Odds are we do.
-
How soon can you get out to my house?
Most new customers get their first service within a few days of getting set up. If you’ve got something urgent — a swarm, a wasp nest by the front door, mice in the kitchen — tell us when you call and we’ll work you in as soon as we can.
-
Do I have to be home when you service?
For most of our regular services, no — you don’t have to be there. Just make sure gates are unlocked and pets are put up. If we’re treating inside or doing an interior termite inspection, we’ll need access, and the office will set that up with you ahead of time.
-
Is there an agreement, and how long is it?
Our Preventative Pest Control, Sentricon, and Bundle programs are one-year agreements that continue month to month after that. Mosquito is seasonal and isn’t a one-year agreement. Our one-year programs carry an early termination fee if you cancel inside the first year. We walk through all of it with you before you sign — no surprises.
-
What if I’m renting, or I manage the property?
We usually can work with either — we just need to know up front who’s authorizing the service and who’s responsible for the billing. Termite protection usually needs to be approved by the owner of the property. Give us a call and we’ll get it set up the right way.
